Everything you need to know about becoming funding ready with GENNOW.
What is GENNOW?
GENNOW is an operating system for small nonprofits. It helps organizations become funding ready, find funding opportunities, draft applications, manage grants, and preserve institutional knowledge in one place.
Is GENNOW a grant database?
Not exactly. GENNOW includes a funding marketplace, but it is much more than a grant database. It combines funding discovery, organizational readiness, application drafting, grant management, and knowledge preservation in one platform.
How is GENNOW different from Instrumentl or GrantStation?
Most platforms stop at helping you find funding. GENNOW helps you become fundable. You can build organizational profiles, complete readiness exercises, create logic models, develop theories of change, draft applications, manage grants, and store reusable knowledge that strengthens every future application.
Do I need grant-writing experience?
No. GENNOW was designed for organizations without dedicated grant writers, development staff, or consultants. The platform guides you through building the information funders expect to see.
Will AI write my grants for me?
GENNOW uses AI to help draft content from your organizational knowledge. The strongest applications still reflect your expertise, programs, and community. AI helps reduce repetitive writing, not replace your judgment.
What is a readiness score?
Your readiness score measures how prepared your organization is for funding opportunities. It evaluates key areas such as your organization profile, programs, governance, theory of change, logic models, evaluation planning, and compliance information. It helps you identify gaps before funders do.
What happens when I complete a course in the Academy?
Every course produces a reusable asset, such as a Theory of Change, Logic Model, Governance Framework, or Readiness Plan. The completed asset is saved to your profile and can be reused in future applications.
Can multiple people use the same workspace?
Yes. GENNOW supports collaboration across staff, board members, consultants, volunteers, and partners. Team members can draft, comment, review, and manage applications together.
Do I need to move all of my documents into GENNOW?
No. You can start with as much or as little information as you have. Most organizations begin with a profile and gradually build their knowledge library over time.
Who is GENNOW built for?
GENNOW is designed for small nonprofits, community-based organizations, rural organizations, grassroots organizations, teams with fewer than five staff, and organizations with limited development capacity.
Will my information stay private?
Yes. Your organizational information belongs to you. You control what is shared publicly and what remains inside your workspace.
Can funders see my full applications?
No. Funders only see the information you choose to share through your profile or inquiries. Your drafts, workspace, knowledge library, and internal documents remain private.
How quickly can we get started?
Most organizations can create a profile and begin building their readiness score in a single afternoon. The goal is progress, not perfection.
